To avoid a fly from causing a splash when it lands, cast it directed at a point around two or three feet above the spot where you are trying to place it, so you can allow it to drop gently on the water, lift the tip of the fly fishing rod slightly right before the fly lands. Should you hold on too long before you make the actual forward cast the fishing line may drop behind you causing it to go dead, to produce a good cast the fishing line should be alive and moving starting from the initial climb of the fishing rod until the fly drops.
Should you begin the forward cast prior to the line straightening out behind, noticed by a tug of the rod, you will probably break off the fly. When you have not reached your target, kodeki repeat the operation of the cast again, pulling several yards more line from the reel.
